I was surprised to learn, today, that besides producing monosodium glutamate (MSG) food seasoning, Ajinomoto has other businesses units. One of these, the company's functional materials segment, produces the ABF (Ajinomoto Build-up Film) substrate, a chemical which is used to insulate the CPUs of 90% of personal computers worldwide.
